Let's face it, no body needs to write a Web Hosting article or review for the Webmaster or seasoned Internet Pro. They already know it all ten times over.
So it is obvious that Hosting reviews are written for and aimed at the uninitiated venturing into the vastness of the Web for possibly their first venture online, and believe me that is a daunting prospect.
The reality of almost every page that comes out on the first page of a Google search for any given Keyword is that it is a professional pitch page designed primarily to direct the newbie to the affiliate of their choice and in so doing earn a nice commission for the owner of the page.
Where does the searcher come into the equation? Where is the real unbiased information? The answer is that it is the proverbial needle hidden somewhere in the gigantic haystack that is the WWW, and that is why the internet is so daunting. You know that the info you seek is out there but you also know that there is no way that you are going to find it.
So when it comes to hosting what is really important for the person that is new to web sites and web publishing.
People go on forever about Disc Space and Band Width and up time. Well the truth is that unless you are planning on being Amazon or some such then you will have enough Disc Space and Bandwidth with plenty to spare with almost any Hosting plan.
It probably is a good idea to have a plan that allows you to host more than one domain name because if all goes good you will most likely have a second site up and running soon.
But the real thing that I believe is important to most newbie's is Price. And the real scam of internet Hosting is that the low monthly price quoted is for a three year plan. What this means is that to get the low quoted price you have to sign up for three years and pay in advance.
So if the low price is $ 2.99 a month, to achieve this deal you have to pay $107.64 up front. This kinda takes the sweet out of the deal.
Also one should remember that most hosting on the Web is provided by resellers and is not from the actual Hosting Company. So if two days after you sign up for a three year deal the reseller decides that selling Hosting is not for him/her then you are caught between a rock and no Hosting. I.E. you have lost your cash.
What to do?
Find a primary Host that has been in the business forever and that is offering a competitive rate for an excellent service. Tons of Bandwidth and Disc Space. A low monthly fee with the ability to upgrade at no cost should you want to host unlimited domains. No Set Up Fee. Great add on features such and web site builder.
Basically look for a host that lets you into a great program for a minimal investment and lets you out for no charge if you decide you want out.
